During a roadside inspection, a digital copy of a commercial driver’s medical card on a cell phone/tablet is acceptable to law enforcement. However, if the driver must scroll through his or her phone, for example, and can’t produce the image quickly, law enforcement may issue a violation regardless.
Quick access may help reduce the chance of a roadside inspection violation. Commercial drivers operating without med cards is the most common Driver Fitness violation assigned to FedEx Ground-branded vehicles.
